About 150 Masters and PhD holders continued their sit-in at the Ministry of Higher Education for the second day in objection to the procedures taken to appoint them. Professor Maged al-Sherbiny, President of the Research Academy met with the protestors yesterday and told them they will be appointed in a month, or six weeks, and all their scholarships were sent to the central office. However, the protestors refused to leave and demanded an immediate solution. Al-Sherbiny said the ministry's role ends with sending the files and the available positions to universities and the research centers. Then, the Central Agency of Organization and Administration (CAOA) is responsible for the job ads, according to a Council of Ministers decision. The Ministry of Higher Education does not interfere in this process. The protestors criticized the Ministry for turning off the lights and the air conditioning in the conference hall, and from keeping their colleagues who want to participate in the sit-in outside of the building.
