Amr Moussa, the outgoing director general of the Arab League, and potential presidential candidate, has confirmed that he will address the Nubian issue whether he wins the presidential election or not. During his meeting with a Nubian delegation, Moussa promised to recommend that the Nubian issue be of top priority for Egyptian Prime Minister Essam Sharaf. The meeting came as part of the Nubian agenda to meet with presidential candidates and the heads of political parties with the aim of increasing public awareness of their programs and to activate Nubia's role in Egyptian political life. Ahmed Ishak, the president of the follow-up committee for Nubian issues, said the meeting included a presentation of the demands of Nubians. Those demands include returning to the land they expelled from in the 1960s, and providing a civil society to pave the way to a decent life. He signaled that Egyptian society has not recognized the disasters that Nubians were faced with, or the problems that threaten their life.
