The Muslim Brotherhood (MB)'s Shura Council took the decision to dismiss Dr. Abdel Moniem Aboul Fotouh after the majority of the council's members voted, an MB leader and vice president of the Freedom and Justice Party, Essam al-Erian, said. Al-Erian added, "We dismissed Aboul Fotouh but he will remain a figure of the MB." Al-Erian said in a meeting held in the Coptic Museum, the MB issued many statements to clarify its situation from the next presidential elections. He added the council met on February 10 and decided not to run for the next presidential elections, confirming Aboul Fotouh attended the meeting and accepted the decision. After Mubarak's resignation, the MB confirmed the decision that the country shouldn't be ruled by only one power. Al-Erian said the president shouldn't affiliate to one specific ideology due to the sensitivity of such a high position.
