South Sudan's government welcomes South Sudanese membership in the Arab League, said the chairman of the League's office in the soon-to-be state, Mohamed Monsef Amin. The separation of South Sudan from the north will be complete in July. Amin added that relations between the League Secretariat and the government will continue. South Sudan has the right to join as an active and influential member in the Arab League according to the League's charter, which says if any Arab State is divided the two divisions shall join the Arab League, Amin said. He added that there is close cooperation between the League and South Sudan's government aimed to boost the south's development. He pointed out that in this frame around 20 engineers of the South Sudanese housing ministry graduated Thursday. Those engineers had training courses under the cooperation signed between the Arab Contractors Company and the Arab League Secretariat. There are many developing projects, especially in South Sudan. These projects are distributed among the Arab States to be carried out in the Southern provinces in the light of the projects proposed by the government during the first conference on the South's development, which was held in Juba – the South Sudanese capital - in February 2010, Amin added. Ameen said the second Juba conference was scheduled to be held in Bahrain but is postponed due to unrest in the Kingdom. He said the conference will be held soon to continue support of development and investment efforts in South Sudan under the auspices of the Arab League. Memoranda of understanding (MOU) have been inked between Arab and Egyptian companies to achieve development and investment projects in South Sudan, he continued. There are also South Sudanese feasibility studies that will be mulled.
