Authorities at Cairo Airport announced an emergency state today when the cable to the customs' authority was cut. The cable, which feeds the passport counters, was accidentally cut in Terminal 2 as a result of construction work. Major General Abu Bakr Abdel Kerim, General Magdy el-Samaan and a number of police officers went to the building immediately after the cable was cut. They manuals checked the passports of passengers at the arrival and departure halld in coordination with passport control in Terminal 1. Nine arriving flights and three departing flights were delayed by two to three hours. The cable was repaired after four hours.
