CAIRO: Ministry of Trade and Industry prepared a bill to amend some provisions of competition protection and prevention of the monopolistic law. The Minister of Trade and Industry, Samir al-Sayad said characteristics of the bill include encouraging investors to confess committing monopoly crimes in competition markets. The law claims any investor who confesses their and their partners' crime to be allowed pardon if they report it. The bill concerns crimes of bribes, theft and money laundering. Al-Sayad said the People's Assembly deformed the proposed bill by granting partially exemption in 2008. The current bill claims investors will be pardoned if they confess the crime before being discovered. Under this bill, the pardon is obligatory and the court may grant it to the investor if the investor gives in all documents related to the crimes, al-Sayad added.
