Three-year-old Habiba Ahmed Youssef was beaten to death by her stepfather. The director of decurity of Alexandria, General Mustafa Sheta, received a report about a child who had died in her home near Bab Ebeid in Apis. Habiba's body was found in her home. Closer inspection showed burns on her legs and bruises and scratches on various parts of the body. After questioning the child's mother, 28-year-old Naeema Ali Mowaad, investigators discovered that the child's father was in prison and the mother had remarried a man called Mustafa Mohamed, who two days prior to the child's death had beaten the child with a hose. According to Naeema, the burns on Habiba's legs were the result of oil falling on her while her mother was cooking.
