GHARBIYA, Egypt: A teacher in the village of Kafr al-Dib, in Gharbiya Governorate, faces criminal charged for beating and torturing kindergarten children. He faces investigations into his brutal way of dealing with the children. A Youm7 correspondent visited the village and discovered that residents, accompanied by their children, are demonstrating for the teacher's release and the reopening of the kindergarten. Demonstrators justified the teacher's actions by saying he was very sad because of a relative's death. “I go to teacher Magdi's kindergarten,” said three-year-old Nadia. “He hit me when I made a mistake and didn't do my homework, but I will go there again and I want the kindergarten to re-open.” The residents said this is the way children should be treated in order to learn and become educated. Even more shocking was the discovery that the childrens' mothers did not file a lawsuit against the teacher, but instead said they had asked the teacher to beat their children. The General Prosecutor ordered the teacher to be sent to the criminal court where he will face prosecution for his brutality in dealing with children. The court hearing will be held on Saturday. The police directorate manager in Zefta town said that he listened to 45 parents who did not accuse the teacher of committing any crime. Gharbiya governor Mohammed Mustafa al-Fakarany ordered to form a committee to inspect all kindergartens in the area to prevent such illicit actions towards children.
