ABYEI, Sudan: Two Egyptian soldiers were injured in an attack targeting UN troops in Abyei. Egypt's Foreign Ministry spokeswoman, Menha Bakhoom, criticized the attacks and emphasized international troops should not be attacked in Sudan. Bakhoom demanded ensuring security measures of these troops, which work to achieve security and stability for Sudan. Egypt's Foreign Minister, Nabil al-Arabi said all partners of the comprehensive agreement should work together to achieve peace in Sudan. He expressed Egypt's concern about the violence witnessed in Abyei recently. Al-Arabi urged both parties to resume dealing different pending issues peacefully, such as completing steps to meet the 2005 comprehensive peace agreement requirements. Al-Arabi confirmed Egypt's readiness to support the peaceful settlement of pending issues, which would pave the way for cooperation and strong relations between all partners in the future to ensure achieving peace and development. Al-Arabi welcomed the confirmation from all partners of the agreement to settle the Abyei issue peacefully.
