Pope Shenouda III, head of the Coptic Christian Church, is leaving Egypt tomorrow morning at 9 am to receive medical treatment in the United States. He will be travelling on Egypt Air, and this will be his first trip using the national airline. A source close to the Pope said that he wanted to travel on Egypt Air to encourage others to use it. The source added that the Pope is very glad that the Coptic protests outside Maspiro, the Egyptian television headquarters, have ended peacefully and that the protestors have safely returned home. He will stay at the Papal Residence in New Jersey. He will also visit Coptic congregations and members of the Egyptian Diaspora in America. The pope will be accompanied by his secretary, Bishop Jeremiah, Bishop Yunis and Bishop Botros.
