The National Institute of Nuclear Safety will hold a meeting, gathering Chairman of the institute, Dr. Mohamed Ibrahim, and a number of nuclear scientists to discuss the studies prepared by the international consulting office Worley Parsons, on Tuesday. Al-Dabaa lies 183.9 miles away from Cairo Aiport, on the North Coast and has been a potential site for the new nuclear reactor. Sources revealed the Parsons' report that includes earthquake studies of al-Dabaa site, a report offered to the institute on late Monday. The studies were reviewed after the news of radiation leakage incident in the reactor of Fukushima, Japan. A source in Worley Parsons told Youm7, "The new studies aim at increasing the safety measures in the Egyptian nuclear reactor which is different from the Japanese reactor. The source clarified Egypt's reactor is a light-water reactor, unlike the Japanese reactor, which depends on boiling water technology. This difference in how it works also makes a difference in the measures of safety between both reactors. The company decided to take precautionary actions to avoid any possible threats. The Center of Nuclear Safety will discuss the measures that should be taken in the next period to run the nuclear site of Al-Dabaa, today.
