CAIRO: There were no casualties but 353 people were injured during last night's clashes in front of the Israeli Embassy in Cairo, said Dr. Adel al-Awady, Egypt's Assistant of Minister of Health and Population Affairs. He said 308 people were treated with first aid at the site of the events. Injuries included tear gas inhalation, head wounds and bruises. Twelve people sustained more severe injuries and were transferred to Om el-Masryeen Hospital; eleven were discharged. All but one of the 29 admitted to Bulaq Hospital were discharged, and four remain in Qasr al-Alini Hospital, he said. Of those injured in the events at Maspiro, the Egyptian television headquarters, three were transferred to Munira and Bulaq hospitals after suffering severe internal bleeding. Coptic Christians have held a sit-in outside Maspiro for over a week. There were violence clashes between the demonstrators and local residents late Saturday night.
