GIZA, Egypt: A bag of explosives was found inside a taxi today in the al-Haram neighborhood of Giza, located close to the Giza Pyramids. The bag belonged to an architecture worker in al-Haram. Police suspected Shoeib E. M., 25, who lives in Matrouh. Shoeib reportedly tried to escape but was caught by police. Shoeib confessed that he cam from Matrouh to Sohag, in Upper Egypt, and took a taxi to al-Harab. There was a phone number written on a paper inside the bag with the explosives. The suspect said he found the bag in the taxi and called the number on the paper to find out who the bag belonged to. He said someone told him, “I forgot the bag,” and asked Shoeib to bring the bag to him at a Maadi gas station close to Torah Prison, where many officials of the former regime are being held on corruption charges. The police officers went to Maadi to check the situation, but no one was there. Explosives experts broke down the explosives and the police notified the armed forces about the incident.
