CAIRO: Egypt's Military Prosecution has sentenced Abeer Talaat to 15 days imprisonment pending investigations. Abeer was sent to the Women's Prison in al-Qanater. She is accused of inciting sectarian violence and causing disorder to the state's security. Abeer is believed to be the main trigger of deadly sectarian clashes in Cairo's poverty-stricken Imbaba neighborhood last weekend. She claims she was held against her will by the church once her family discovered she had converted from Christianity to Islam. Thirteen were killed, over 200 injured and a church left in ashes when clashes erupted between Coptic Christians and a demonstration of Salafis, a hard-line Muslim sect, on May 7. Salafis were demonstrating for Abeer's release. More on the Imbaba incidents here.
