The first winner of the show, Arabs Got Talent thinks the show is a genius idea. “‘Arabs Got Talent' is genius idea for a show because brings awareness to different talents,” said Amr Qatamsh. He praised the program which helped make Halamantishi poetry well known. In an interview on the program ‘Kalam Nawa'm' on MBC1, Qatamsh said, “I am impressed by Arabs Got Talent… it was a chance to watch different types of talents. The program got viewers who like poetry to listen to music, while other who do like music started to be interested in hip hop. And those who like hip hop listened to poetry.” Qatamsh said Halamantishi poetry has existed for a very long time. Halamantishi, first created by Hussein Shafiq el-Masry, is poetry including funny words and situations. This kind of poetry usually discusses social issues like traffic congestion and rising prices. Qatamsh spoke of his introduction to Halamantishi poetry. He said his father taught him how to read and pronounce properly and so he loved Arabic when he was in primary school. He added while other kids were just playing, he would read the Quran and poetry. In his high school, Qatamsh's teacher's love for poetry also inspired him, so he tried to write poetry in high school. He remembered feeling jealous of the poets he studied, like Elia Abo Mady. Qatamsh said he did not expect to win Arabs Got Talent. He said his success in the first phase of the competition gave him a goal other than winning: to expose the Egyptian state media's performance during the January 25 Revolution.
