CAIRO: Al-Amal Party called to establish a civil state in Egypt with an Islamic orientation. Islamic tendencies are not limited to playing an opposing role, the new party said. Secretary General of al-Amal Party, Magdy Hussien, criticized protests blocking roads or railway routes to pressure the government to respond to demands. He said the people are stronger than the current government. In his first meeting in Al-Azhar Mosque since 2008, Hussien praised the Egyptian army, which sided with the people to overthrow former President Hosni Mubarak. Hussein called to focus on the upcoming parliamentary and presidential elections that will be held in three months. He advised citizens to vote and to weigh each candidate and decide wisely. Hussien said he came to Al-Azhar to greet Egyptians after the January 25 Revolution. Hussein has been organizing seminars to call for civil disobedience against now-deposed president Mubarak since 2002 to 2008. He said the government legislated a ban on demonstrations in worship areas to prevent meetings inside mosques. Hussein views that the next stages of Egypt will be a step forward because citizens will not be afraid to prosecute the future president if he committed any mistakes. Arabic here.
