CAIRO: The National Front for Democracy and Justice and the January 25 Alliance will lead a protest tomorrow in front of the Syrian Embassy in Cairo against the massacres committed by the Syrian regime against peaceful demonstrators. The protest is set to last for an hour. Representatives of the two groups will “send a message to all honest people to save civilians in Syria from genocide.” Mohamed Abou-Zaid, one of the founders of the National Front, said on Wednesday a number of public figures are expected to attend the demonstration, including Mohamed al-Beltagi, a prominent member of the Muslim Brotherhood, and Gamal Zahran, a professor of political science at Helwan University and a former independent parliamentarian. The National Front said it will avoid using expressions such as ‘condemnation', ‘censure', or ‘denunciation,' which are terms commonly used by Arab leaders in such situations. The group's statement said it will call on all the free people of the world to action to save Syrians from the ‘genocide' being committed by the regime of Bashar al-Assad. It also called on the Egyptian people and all Egyptian political parties to contribute to countering the massacres in Syria.
