Egypt forward Mohamed Salah came off the bench to create two goals in five minutes as Basel boosted their chances to making the Europa League knockouts with a 3-0 win over Sporting Lisbon. Fabian Schar gave the Swiss champions a first-half as Salah was introduced in the 65th minute to replace captain Alexander Frei. The Egyptian was in the thick of action right out when he wonderfully set up as through-on-goal Valentin Stocker with the second goal on 66 minutes. Salah then combined superbly with David Degen, who made it three goals to the good for the home side. Basel move two points clear of third-placed Videoton, who lost 1-0 at home to the already-qualified Genk, much to the good fortune of Basel.
