Mido says he should be fit to make his competitive debut for Barnsley in 20 days, following his hamstring tear. The Egyptian has been out for three months before returning with the Barnsley U21s last week as he continues to build his match fitness. “Things are relatively getting better after I had made an appearance with the youth team in the U-21 league," Mido said in an interview with Egyptian newspaper almasryalyoum. “Now I am training with the first team and hopefully I will return in 20 days. “I think my participation with the youth team ensured that my overweight problem is over. I am now in the final phase of rehabilitation." Mido is now set to miss Barnsley's next four league games as he targets a November 17 clash at Bolton. Barnsley decision When asked about his decision to relinquish over 10 years of top-flight football for the sake of Barnsley, Mido insisted he made no mistake by joining the Championship strugglers. “I made a mistake? Absolutely not. The English Championship is a very tough competition that involves many good clubs like Hull, Blackburn and Middlesbrough," he added. “Only in Egypt we have that wrong idea (about playing in lower divisions). “But here in Europe, players think in a different way and that's what I've learnt from my experience here." Mido has been plying his trade in Europe since 2000, having played for a host of clubs including the likes of Ajax, Roma and Tottenham.
