Egypt duo Mohamed Abou-Treika and Essam Al-Hadari have been nominated in the preliminary shortlist for the Best Africa-based Player of 2012. CAF said on its website that midfield star Abou-Treika has been selected for his contribution in Ahli's Champions League campaign, having scored six goals including a hat-trick against Mali's Stade Malien in the round of 32. On the other hand, Egypt number one Al-Hadari was included for an impressive campaign with Sudan's Merreikh in the Confederation Cup. The list of 32 was dominated by players from Esperance and Mazembe, who clash in the Champions League semi-final next week. Esperance and Tunisia ace Youssef Msakni - as well as Mazembe's Rainford Kalaba of Zambia - made both the Africa-based Player of the Year and the best player shortlist. The star-studded Player of the Year list includes the likes of Didier Drogba, Yaya Toure, Andre Ayew and Demba Ba. Winners should be announced at the Glo-CAF Awards ceremony in December.
