Learn about Egypt's opponents: Mozambique
Published in FilGoal on 27 - 05 - 2012

Current FIFA Ranking: 110
Head-to-head: Egypt's 2-0 domination
Mozambique have yet to score a goal against Egypt in three previous meetings that all came at the Africa Cup of Nations, with the seven-time champions winning 2-0 thrice.
Two goals from Taher Abou-Zeid in 1986 helped Egypt en route to win the title on home soil and 12 years later, another brace from Hossam Hassan paved way for the Pharaohs in Burkina Faso.
The last meeting came at the 2010 Nations Cup, with Egypt once again pulling off a 2-0 group-stage victory and eventually clinching the title in Angola.
Man to watch: Jerry
Striker Jerry Sitoe plays for Romanian Liga II side UTA Arad following short spells in Portugal with Academica and Trofense.
The 21-year-old is considered Mozambique's main man upfront, having started every game under the management of Gert Engles so far.
He is the second-youngest member of the current Black Mambas selection after teenager Clesio.
Coach: Gert Engels
Engels, 55, is a German manager who has never worked as a national team coach before taking charge of the Black Mambas in October 2011.
He worked for 21 years in Japan, where he started his coaching career in 1990. Only two Emperor's Cup titles are his top achievements so far.
Recent form
Mozambique have been in good form since Engels took the helm last year as the African minnows remain unbeaten in three games under the German.
They sealed qualification to the 2014 World Cup qualifiers group stage after beating Comoros twice to claim a 5-1 aggregate victory, which included a 4-1 home thrashing last October.
In the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, the Black Mambas are in pole position to make the next round after grabbing a 1-1 first-leg away draw against Tanzania in the preliminaries.
Interesting fact: Mozambicans in Egypt
Three members of the Mozambique squad used to ply their trade in Egypt, including long-serving Tersana keeper Joao Raphael, Baladeya's Ze Luis and ex-Ismaili defender Dario Khan.
Moreover, center-half Mano is still playing for Egyptian Premier League club ENPPI.
