Sudan have qualified for the Africa Cup of Nations knockouts for the first time in over 40 years after beating Burkina Faso 2-1. The 1970 champions were inspired by two goals from Hilal forward Mudathir Al-Tahir as Issiaka Ouédraogo scored a late consolation for Burkina Faso. The Sudanese were assisted by Ivory Coast though as the Elephants maintained their perfect record with a 2-0 win over Angola, with Emmanuel Eboue and Wilfried Bony on target. Ivory Coast ease into the last eight with nine points and no goals conceded, to clash with co-hosts Equatorial Guinea. Sudan go through as runners-up to face Group A leaders Zambia.
