Morocco have been confirmed as the host nation of the U-23 African Championship, following the withdrawal of Egypt from staging the competition, CAF announced on Thursday. Egypt were supposed to stage the finals, from where three teams will go through to the 2012 Olympics Games, but backed down upon orders from higher authorities. The cities of Marrakech and Tangiers will stage the two-grouped tournament from the 26th of November to the 10th of December. CAF also added that Rabat and/or Fes will be additional venues for the competition. Egypt lie in Group A along with Gabon, Ivory Coast and South Africa, whereas the other group comprises hosts Morocco, Algeria, Nigeria and Senegal.
