Ahli boss Manuel Jose saluted Zamalek for their performance this season, stressing that the Whites' fans should be proud of their team. Jose guided the Reds to a 36th Egyptian Premier League title, his personal sixth out of a consecutive seven, after beating Arab Contractors 5-1 on Thursday. But the victory came after a long spell of domination from arch-rivals Zamalek who according to Jose, deserved credit despite losing the race. “I usually don't like to talk about opponents, but I believe Zamalek fans should be proud of their team's performance this season,” the Portuguese told Modern Kora TV. “I was surprised by the level of competition in the league this season in general. It was great and I think the Egyptian league is improving.” Jose took the helm in December as he helped Ahli overturn their six-point deficit with Zamalek to seal the title with a seven-point lead, one week before the final day.
