Ahli remained silent over reports suggesting that they are interested to sign Senegalese forward Mamadou Niang this summer. Niang, 31, currently plays for Turkish side Fenerbahce but has been a pivotal member of Marseille's squad from 2005 till 2010. "Ahli haven't signed any foreign player till now," football director Sayed Abdul-Hafiz told FilGoal.com on Friday. "Players over 30 don't appeal to us unless, of course, he is a superstar." Niang was the Ligue 1 top scorer in 2009-2010, when Marseille were crowned champions. "Any player signed by Ahli will be officially presented to the media when the deal is done." Ahli are in the hunt for a striker to cover repeatedly injured players in the front line such as Mohamed Fadl, Emad Meteb and Francis Doe. Niang is well known to Egyptians as he scored against The Pharaohs in the 2006 African Cup semis. Egypt won this game 2-1.
