An Ismaili board member claims that the club have received an official apology from the Egyptian FA following the recent refereeing saga. Prior to their recent visit to Gaish, Ismaili requested foreign officials in parity with rivals Ahli and Zamalek, only to have the match officiated by Egyptian referee Fahim Omar. The Dervishes suffered a 1-0 defeat, courtesy of a second-half penalty awarded by Omar, before eventually announcing their withdrawal from the domestic league. Although Omar's penalty decision was justified, the Ismaili board insisted on their stance, demanding an apology from the association. “The FA sent us a written apology for failing to assign a foreign official for the Gaish game,” Ismaili board member Alaa Wahid told FilGoal.com. “This message will be a priority in the next board meeting.”
