Ismaili have forfeited the Egyptian League in protest over refereeing following their 1-0 defeat against Gaish on Friday, a club spokesman said. "The board called for an emergency meeting during which it was decided to forfeit the league," Alaa Wahid told FilGoal.com. The Egyptian FA announced on Thursday that foreign referees will be in charge of Ahli, Zamalek and Ismaili games in this weekend. Zamalek beat Police Union under the guidance of Tunisian refereeing, while Ahli's game was officiated by a Saudi referee. Ismaili's game with Gaish was held with Egyptian referee Fahim Omar in charge. Omar whistled a penalty for Gaish in the 77th minute as Ernest Papa Arko converted the winner home. Although TV replays proved the decision was correct, Ismaili officials and fans were furious. "The Egyptian FA has double standards. Why do we get an Egyptian referee while Ahli and Zamalek get foreigners?" Wahid asked. "Ismaili also play for the title and deserve to be treated as equal with Ahli and Zamalek."
