Zamalek doctor Mostafa Al-Monayeri refuted reports claiming that Amr Zaki had gone AWOL in Germany, where the robust striker has been nursing a knee problem. The 28-year-old has been out of action for four months, thanks to a nagging knee injury that relapsed more than once over the past weeks. The Zak recently flew to Germany for treatment but media reports alleged on Sunday that he had disappeared all of a sudden. Al-Monayeri said: "These are just baseless rumors. Zaki is in Germany, he's undergoing programs to tone muscles supporting his knee. "He will start another rehabilitation program on Tuesday." It was reported that Zamalek's officials had failed to contact Zaki of late. "Zaki is capable of making a comeback by the end of the rehabilitation program. What was rumored about his imminent retirement is also false," Al-Monayeri added. The former Wigan Athletic star said on his official website that he's getting closer to recovery. It's yet to be determined when Zaki will return from injury. With Zaki and Mohamed Aoudia sidelined with respective injuries and Mido still ineligible to play due to unfinished paperwork, Ahmed Gaafar and Abou Kone remain the only two strikers at Zamalek coach Hossam Hassan's disposal.
