Arsenal have scored their most precious victory so far this season when they outclassed defending champions Chelsea 3-1 in the Premier League at Emirates Stadium on Monday. Alex Song opened the scoring on the stroke of halftime with a close-range effort. Cesc Fabregas doubled the Gunners' lead nine minutes from the hour mark. Theo Walcot capitalized on a defensive lapse to go one-on-one with keeper Petr Cech before flicking the ball to Fabregas, who slotted into an empty net. Walcott turned from provider to scorer a couple of minutes later with a low shot, thanks to some sloppy defending from the visitors. Frank Lampard netted the consolation goal for Chelsea on 59 minutes upon heading home a Didier Drogba free kick. Arsenal are now in second place with 35 points, two behind leaders Manchester United who have one more game in hand. The Blues are fourth on 31 points.
