Last season's runners-up Bayern Munich scored two late goals to beat AS Roma 2-0 in their Champions League Group E opener on Wednesday. Forward Thomas Mueller broke the deadlock in the 79th minute with a delightful volley from inside the area. Roma's summer arrival Marco Boriello wasted a golden chance to level the score and he paid for his miss when Miroslav Klose added the second for Bayern with seven minutes remaining. In Group F, high-flying Chelsea strolled to a 4-1 victory at Slovakian side MSK Zilina. The Blues went to the locker room with a 3-0 lead, thanks to a brace from French striker Nicolas Anelka and a goal from Ghana midfielder Michael Essien. Daniel Sturridge notched the fourth three minutes after the break before Tomas Oravec grabbed a consolation for Zilina. In the other group game, Marseille slumped to a 1-0 victory at home to Spartak Moscow although they dominated most of the game. The French side were made to pay for wasting several clear-cut chances when their Spanish defender Cesar Azpilicueta scored an own goal nine minutes from time. Bayern Munich goals
