Ahmed Al-Muhammadi came on as a second-half substitute as Sunderland lost 3-1 to German side Hoffenheim in their last pre-season friendly game on Sunday. The Egyptian wing-back was introduced instead of Trinidadian striker Kenwyne Jones to feature in his fifth friendly with Sunderland. Hoffenheim grabbed the lead after seven minutes through a header from Josip Simunic. He scored his second of the night just before the half-hour to double his side's advantage before Sunderland midfielder Jordan Henderson narrowed the gap after the break. However, Prince Tagoe killed off the English side's hopes after notching home few minutes later. Al-Muhammadi joined Sunderland from Egyptian Premier League side ENPPI on a season-long loan. The Black Cats open their Premier League campaign against Birmingham City on August 14.
