The Tanzania Football federation (TFF) claimed that Egypt had pulled out of a friendly match with the Taifa Stars that was scheduled for August 11th. The Pharaohs will take on DR Congo in Cairo on the same day. They set up the game after canceling a friendly with Togo. However, they never revealed any negotiations with Tanzania. A TFF spokesman said Egypt had called off their meeting with Tanzania for an 'unconvincing reason'. "Egypt confirmed to us in writing on July 29 that the match was on," TFF spokesperson Floroan Kaijage was quoted as saying on BBC Sport. "But we were surprised when they wrote again saying they were pulling out. "They say we did not send the names of the delegation in time, but this is an unconvincing reason." Egypt have played one friendly game since winning an unprecedented third consecutive African Cup of Nations title in Angola last January. They slumped to a 3-1 defeat by England at Wembley Stadium last March. They were drawn in Group 7 of the 2012 Nations Cup qualifiers along with South Africa, Sierra Leone and Niger. The seven-time African champions will play their first two home qualifiers at least 100 kilometers away from Cairo after being sanctioned by world governing body FIFA. The punishment came after Algeria's team bus was stoned ahead of a fiery World Cup qualifier in November last year.
