Smouha have refused to sell Mohsen Hendawi to Zamalek, the Alexandria club said on Wednesday. "Zamalek offered EGP three million as well as one of their players for Hendawi," Smouha chairman Mohamed Farag told the club's website. "After consulting with manager Mohsen Saleh, we refused their offer." Zamalek are in a desperate need to an experienced right-back, especially after releasing Mohamed Abdullah on Tuesday. The Cairo club's only right-sided defender now is Ahmed Ghanem, after manager Hossam Hassan deployed Hazem Emam in the midfield. Ghanem was Zamalek's biggest weakness last season, as he fails to live up to expectations in big games. Smouha were promoted to the Egyptian Premier League this season for the first time in history.
