The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) announced the sacking of its chief executives in an attempt to appease angry president Goodluck Jonathan. Following the Super Eagles' elimination from the World Cup group stage, president Jonathan imposed a two-year ban on the national team from all international competitions. FIFA gave the African nation until Monday night to reverse the decision, or else they will be suspended from all FIFA-related events. While the NFF hope that president Jonathan reconsider his decision, the sacking of chief Sani Lulu and his assistant Amanze Ugbulam was confirmed on Sunday. "We passionately appeal to the president to reconsider the earlier action of government to withdraw all the national football teams from CAF/FIFA competitions for two years," a statement from the NFF read. Nigeria, who finished third in the African Cup of Nations this year, failed to win a single game in the World Cup finals, losing twice and drawing against South Korea.
