Zamalek are considering making a move for former Arsenal keeper Rami Shaaban, the club's football director said on Sunday. The Egyptian-born guardian, who came through the youth ranks of Zamalek, is currently playing for Swedish second-division side Hammarby Ifb. "An agent told us that Shaaban might be available in the close season," Ibrahim Hassan told FilGoal.com. "Head coach Hossam Hassan will have the final word over whether we could make an offer for him or not." Shaaban, 34, was part of Sweden's squad that took part in the 2006 World Cup. He also played four games in the EURO 2008 qualifiers. He is currently nursing a knee injury and is expected to return to action next month. Zamalek are eyeing a new keeper to make up for the imminent departure of Mohamed Abdul-Monsef. Abdul-Monsef, who used to play second-fiddle to regular keeper Abdul-Wahed Al-Sayed, is close to joining Gouna. The White Knights are also in talks with Ismaili to sign Egypt custodian Essam Al-Hadari.
