A late goal by Diego Forlan gave Atletico Madrid a 2-1 victory over Fulham in the Europa League final on Wednesday. The Uruguayan striker initially put the Spanish side ahead in the 32nd minute when he diverted a mishit shot from Sergio Aguero into the net from inside the area. Simon Davies leveled the score five minutes later with a superb far-post volley but Forlan struck again with four minutes remaining to hand Atletico an invaluable win. He beat his marker to an Aguero cross to flick the ball past Fulham keeper Mark Schwarzer. "You always enjoy goals like that, especially given the timing," Forlan, who joined Atletico from fellow Spanish side Villarreal in the summer of 2007, said after the game. Atletico have won their first major trophy since winning the domestic league and cup double in 1996. They will also have a chance to win the Spanish King's Cup when they meet Sevilla in the final next week. The match's goals
