Lierse SK, who are owned by Egyptian businessman Maged Sami, sealed promotion to the Belgian first division after beating Waasland 2-0 on Sunday. The four-time Belgian champions will be among the elites next season after gaining an unassailable five-point lead over second-placed Lommel with one match remaining. In-form Egyptian winger Mohamed Abdul-Wahed set them on their way to a valuable victory after notching home on 22 minutes. He controlled a pass on the edge of the area, evaded a challenger and sent a trademark left-foot shot into the bottom corner of the net. The former Zamalek and Ismaili man, who has been a revelation since joining Lierse in 2007, took his tally to 11 goals this season. Lierse squad boasts four other Egyptians in right winger Ahmed Samir, Mohamed Al-Gabbas, Sherif Al-Beyali and Hamada Lamloum. Cameroonian striker Joseph-Desire Job, 32, made sure of the win with a 25th-minute goal. Lierse owner Sami said recently his side would be interested in signing Egypt skipper Ahmed Hassan, who enjoyed a highly-successful two-year spell with Belgian giants Anderlecht before moving to Ahli, if his side secured Premier League promotion. Ismaili and Egypt keeper Essam Al-Hadari was also linked with a move to Lierse.
