Concentrate on your work, Hassan!
Published in FilGoal on 17 - 04 - 2010

Hossam Hassan worked his magic with Zamalek to turn them into league contenders after they struggled at the wrong end of the table for many weeks. He should not spoil his huge popularity by some childish and needless acts.
His work is very much appreciated by fans and media alike but his temper could prematurely end what could turn out to be a glorious reign for Zamalek.
Hassan's demeanor has been calm since he took charge of Zamalek early in the season, and he was praised for trying to ease tensions following the team's 1-1 draw with Police Union that witnessed ugly scenes after the final whistle.
But it seems that he is returning to his old self rather than standing firm on his current status.
He inexplicably waved his white shirt in front of Ahli fans following Friday's thrilling Cairo derby, which ended in a 3-3 draw.
This action is a sort of inexcusable provocation that could have led to unfortunate consequences if the fans had tried to react fiercely.
It is true that Hassan was insulted but who does not get verbally abused in such heated games? A sportsman of his caliber should be able to control his temper in similar situations.

Hassan should not waste a valuable chance to carve out a successful coaching career
The problem is that Hassan, and his twin Ibrahim who occupies the football director role at Zamalek, still believe that they are being targeted by football authorities and media in Egypt.
As long as they think that way, they will not be able to shrug off their bad habits of complaining against everything and everyone.
Hossam Hassan made no secret of his desire to manage the Egyptian national team one day but he does little to boost his chances of taking that prestigious role.
He definitely has the technical attributes to coach the Pharaohs but the disciplinary issues will count against him if that opportunity came up.
The Egypt's all-time leading scorer should not waste a valuable chance to carve out a successful coaching career with a very popular club in Zamalek.
He ruined what appeared to be a promising spell with Masri a year ago due to his unbearable behavior but he can still make amends.
Hassan could lead Zamalek to their first piece of silverware in two years if they won the domestic cup this season and his hunger for success would surely drive him forward.
