Portuguese coach Manuel Jose has decided to end his spell as Angola coach, BBC Sport said on Saturday. Jose left Egyptian champions Ahli last summer to take over at Angola and lead them at January's African Cup of Nations on home soil. It was the first time for the 63-year-old, a cult figure among Ahli fans for helping the team win a host of domestic and continental titles, to take charge of a national team. However, Angola could not get beyond the quarter finals after slumping to a 1-0 defeat to eventual runners-up Ghana. Recent reports suggested that Jose might be interested in returning to Ahli, where he enjoyed great success during two spells. But the controversial coach, who was often criticized by Egyptian media for his notorious and sometimes offensive comments, rebuffed those reports. He said his relationship with Ahli is 'special' but insisted he had no intention of having another spell with them. The Red Devils are led by Hossam Al-Badri, who used to be Jose's assistant during the past few years.
