EFA rule against Zamalek in Geddo row
Published in FilGoal on 12 - 02 - 2010

The Egyptian FA have ruled against Zamalek and in favor of Ittihad Alexandria in their row over the contract of African Cup of Nations top scorer Geddo.
Geddo took the nation by surprise when he scored five goals for Egypt off the bench as the Pharaohs won their third straight African title.
But it was revealed as soon as he arrived in Egypt that he signed an extension with his club Ittihad while penning a deal with Zamalek.
The EFA have opened an enquiry and they said that Geddo will stay with Ittihad.
"We received an official letter from the EFA confirming the player is ours," Ittihad Alexandria chairman Mohamed Moselhi said.
"Geddo will be fined though," he told FilGoal.com.
Zamalek manager Hossam Hassan was infuriated by the decision, accusing the EFA of prompting chaos in the local scene.
"The players won't ever respect their contracts as long as they know the maximum penalty they will get is a fine," he told Modern Sport.
Hossam Hassan played less than a season alongside Geddo in Ittihad and he sought his signature before the player was picked by Egypt manager Hassan Shehata.
The contracts were signed before the Angola trip and Hassan said that Geddo said then 'it was a dream come true' for him.
"Even if he joined Zamalek now, I will leave him on the bench till he learns how to respect the club," he said.
