Egypt's form was evidently fluctuating but they recovered from one goal down and recorded a 3-1 win over Cameroon in extra-time to reach the African Cup of Nations semi-finals. Skipper Ahmed Hassan and Mohamed Nagi 'Geddo' impressed in the game but several of their teammates notably underperformed. FilGoal.com assessed Egypt's players on a scale of 1 to 10. Essam Al-Hadari (7.5): He's not to blame for the goal he conceded. His performance was consistent and blocked a good number of the opposition's long-range shots. Ahmed Al-Muhammadi (6.5): The right winger saved no efforts in the game. He supported the frontline and partly fulfilled his defensive duties. Ahmed Fathi (8): As usual he was combative and indispensable in the heart of midfield. He disturbed the Indomitable Lions by stealing the ball on many occasions but his attacking efforts were negligible. Sayed Moawad (6.5): His performance was assured but he ran out of gas near the end of the second period. He didn't advance to whip in crosses as he usually does. Mahmoud Fathallah (5): The Zamalek defender posed no obstacle for the Cameroonian strikers and made few blunders. Hani Saied (6): His display was by far average but didn't make deadly mistakes.
Geddo Wael Gomaa (7.5): The veteran defender played a huge role in keeping opponents at bay. Ahmed Hassan (9.5): The 34-year-old celebrated his appearances milestone in style. He made amends for his first-half own goal by scoring either side of the interval and was impressive throughout the game. He was named man of the match. Hosni Abd-Rabou (3.5): The Ahli Dubai star was totally out of form. His passes were completely inaccurate till he made way for Hossam Ghaly. Emad Meteb (3): Had absolutely no physical presence, failed every time to outrun the Cameroonian defenders and lacked minimal cutting edge. He was almost absent over the 120 minutes. Mohamed Zidan (6.5): He was influential upfront but squandered several chances. His dribbling skills came in handy till he was taken off in the second half. Substitutes: Mohamed Nagi 'Geddo' (8.5): After he replaced Zidan, he injected zeal and helped the defending champions control the game. He made the score-line after capitalizing on a defensive lapse. Hossam Ghaly (6.5): He replaced the off-form Abd-Rabou and his introduction paid off. He strengthened the team and helped them play more fluently. Mohamed Abdul-Shafi (--): He came on instead of captain Hassan late in the game but wasn't really tested.
