Injury-prone Marquez advises Ronaldo
Published in FilGoal on 16 - 11 - 2009

Barcelona ace Rafael Marquez believes that Cristiano Ronaldo shouldn't rush his return after recuperating from injury.
Real Madrid superstar Ronaldo is close to overcoming an ankle bruise, and was tipped to make his comeback soon.
However, veteran center-back Marquez, who sustained a number of injuries over his six-year period at Nou Camp, is convinced that the Portugal winger needs to spend more time on the sidelines.
"It is not simple because it is bruising inside the bone and curing it is difficult. It takes time to recover from that. That was what happened with me," he told Barca's official site.
"I took all the measures possible to play, but it was impossible. Partly because it was in the foot with which I kick most - that meant that even training was not possible. Walking hurt at times.
"I think people understand what it is like and that they recognize it is not easy."
Marquez pointed out that he has suffered a multitude of knocks throughout his career, and that's why he's well-informed about injuries.
"Even when I was in Mexico I picked up muscle injuries a lot. I do not know if it is my build, but I always work hard to prevent them," he added.
"Last year I suffered two minor injuries and then had the problem with the knee. Sadly, that is the way that I am built. I try everything I can, but at times the body decides. I cannot control that."
