Egypt's veteran defender Abdul-Zaher Al-Saqqa said that his team made amends for their poor results in the World Cup qualifiers by defeating Algeria 2-0 on Saturday. An early opener from Amr Zaki and a stunner from Emad Meteb deep into stoppage time gave the Pharaohs a meritorious victory that forced a playoff game between both teams on Wednesday in Sudan. Both teams are now equal in points, goal difference, goals scored and head-to-head record in Group C of the qualifying stage. Al-Saqqa, who made an astounding comeback on the international stage upon featuring against the Desert Foxes, is convinced that Egypt are now close to fulfilling their dream. "We are now on the right track, but there is one last game that we have to win in order to reach the World Cup," the Eskisehirspor defender stated. The African champions came under fire when they drew with Zambia 1-1 in Cairo, and then lost 3-1 at Algeria in their first couple of qualifiers. But later on they beat Rwanda twice, defeated Zambia away and avenged their loss to Alegria at Cairo Stadium to revive their qualification hopes.
