Germany and Hannover goalie Robert Enke has died at the age of 32 after being hit with a train, in what appears to be a suicide. "At 1825 (1725GMT) Enke was run over by a regional express train running between Hamburg and Bremen," said police spokesman Stefan Wittke. "The train was travelling at the speed of 160-kph." Later on Tuesday, Enke's consultant and friend Joerg Neblung confirmed that the death was a result of suicide. "I can confirm this is a case of suicide. He took his own life just before six (pm). There will be a press conference tomorrow with more details," Neblung told reporters. The German football federation (DFB) reflected the devastating impact of the accident on the Mannschaft, who play Chile in a friendly on Saturday. "The German team has learned of the death of Robert Enke with great shock," a statement on the DFB's official site read. "National team coach Joachim Low and manager Oliver Bierhoff said ‘we are all shocked, we are speechless'." Enke, who won eight caps for Germany, was labeled as first-choice keeper by manager Low and was favorite to be between the posts in next year's World Cup.
