Liverpool's influential duo Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres have been ruled out of the Reds' Premiership trip to Sunderland with groin injuries. Both stars were injured last week while being on international duty, and neither played for their respective national sides in midweek. However, Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez believes that England ace Gerrard and Spain hitman Torres will be able to take part in their club's midweek UEFA Champions League encounter against Lyon. "Both Steven and Fernando still have some problems," Benitez stated. "They will need more time and won't be available this weekend. I think they could be available for next week. "We were talking with our medical staff and analyzing all the problems, but now we can't change the situation and would prefer to concentrate on Sunderland. "I need to worry about the players I have rather than those I don't." On the other hand, Dirk Kuyt is expected to lead Liverpool's frontline against Sunderland, after his ankle problem turned out to be negligible. "Kuyt is okay. He was training normally with the team and will be available," added Benitez.
