Portugal star Cristiano Ronaldo is set to miss the final World Cup qualifier against Malta on Wednesday due to injury. The Real Madrid winger aggravated an ankle injury in Portugal's 3-0 victory over Hungary on Saturday, which forced him to leave the pitch after just 27 minutes. "Probably we have lost him for the Malta game," Portugal manager Carlos Queiroz said after the game. "Ronaldo's situation requires another, more detailed exam, but I have already spoken to the medical team and the probabilities are not very cheering." Ronaldo originally sustained the injury in Real 3-0 Champions League victory over Marseille last month and was hence ruled out of the Priemra Liga defeat at Sevilla. The £80million Real recruit is now doubtful for Sunday's home game with Real Valladolid.
