Arsenal scored twice in the last 12 minutes to beat Olympiakos 2-0 in the Champions League on Tuesday. The Gunners tightened their grip on Group H with six points, three ahead of their guests, who stayed in second place. Alkmaar and Standard Liege settled for a 1-1 draw in the same group. Arsenal were much better but good defending from Olympiakos kept them at bay till late in the game. Robin Van Persie broke the deadlock in the 78th minute when he slotted home from close range after a neat cross from substitute Eduardo.
Andrei Arshavin doubled the lead with a debatable goal four minutes from time, when he back-heeled a cross from Cesc Fabregas into the back of the net. TV replays showed that Arshavin might have been in an offside position. Elsewhere, Moussa Traore scored deep into the injury time to give Standard Liege a dramatic draw at Alkmaar. Traore tamed a long ball before slamming past the keeper in the 91st minute. The home side were ahead since the 48th minute thanks to a wonderful shot from Moroccan striker Mounir Al-Hamdaoui.
