Arsenal came from two goals down to beat Belgium's Standard Liege 3-2 away in their Champions League Group H opener on Wednesday. The English side were stunned when Liege went two up after just five minutes, thanks to goals from Eliaquim Mangala and Milan Jovanovic. Mangala opened the scoring with a low shot from the edge of the area and Jovanovic doubled Liege's lead few minutes later when he converted a penalty. Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner scored his first goal of the season to pull one back just before the break. The Danish international slotted home from a tight angle after being fed by a deft through pass from Abou Diaby. Defender Thomas Vermaelen restored parity in the 78th minute in a goal-mouth scramble. Croatian striker Eduardo da Silva spoiled Liege's hopes of getting something from the game with nine minutes remaining. He converted a corner kick from close range to give Arsenal an opening win in the group stage campaign. Olympiakos also got off to a winning start after claiming a narrow 1-0 victory over Dutch side AZ Alkmaar. Vassilis Torosidis' 79th-minute goal handed the Greek side all three points.
