Alexandria - Ahmad Saied FIFA president Sepp Blatter is impressed by the number of attendants in the U-20 World Cup opening game between hosts Egypt and Trinidad and Tobago. The young pharaohs will kick off their campaign in front of a sell-out crowd at the 80,000-seat Egyptian Army Stadium in Alexandria. The local organizing committee's promotional campaign drew widespread criticism and fears that Egyptian fans will not be enthusiastic to support their team from the stands were very common. But fans dispelled such worries after turning out in numbers to flood the Egyptian Army Stadium, which will stage its first competitive game after being built in 2005. "I'm proud that all these people will attend the opening game. The Egyptian fans prove that their country adores football," Blatter told a press conference on Thursday. "I'm fully confident that Egypt will stage a very successful U-20 World Cup, which is the second most important FIFA tournament." Blatter also had words of praise for the Egyptian Army Stadium, which is located in Borg Al-Arab – a small town in the country's second largest city Alexandria. "This venue demonstrates how the football infrastructure in Africa is improving," he said.
