Mainz's summer arrival Gamal Hamza featured in his team's 3-0 friendly victory over Idar-Oberstein on Tuesday, after spending over a month on the sidelines. The Egyptian striker, who has yet to make his Bundesliga debut with the German side, was named in the starting eleven, before being substituted in the break along with some of his teammates. Eugen Polanski, Aristide Bance and Dragan Bogavac scored one each on 15, 23 and 65 minutes respectively to seal the victory. Mainz's sports manager Axel Schuster had earlier voiced concerns over Hamza's fitness, saying he still has a lot of work to be up to scratch. However, he stated that the former Zamalek star should make tangible progress in the next few days, as his morale was boosted by the arrival of his family in Germany. Recent media reports suggested that Hamza would return to Zamalek in January, after French tactician Henri Michel was reinstated at the Cairo club of late. Hamza worked under Michel during his first stint at Zamalek in the 2006-2007 season.
